Join us for Steps for Safe Paws — a 5K Family Fun Walk supporting Safe Paws Recovery Housing of Michiana.
📍 Location: Howard Park → East Bank Trail → Niles Dog Park → Return
📅 Date: June 6, 2026 (Rain date: June 13, 2026)
⏰ Rolling Start: 9:00 AM – 9:30 AM
To create a comfortable, low-stress environment for both people and dogs, participants may begin walking at any time within the 30-minute start window.

Event Guidelines & Policies
• Dogs must remain on a leash at all times
• Please ensure dogs are comfortable in public, social environments
• Owners are responsible for their pets at all times
• Please clean up after your pet
• Participants attend at their own risk and assume responsibility for themselves and their pets.

All just for fun - no pressure, just a chance to celebrate our amazing companions.

Safe Paws Recovery Housing of Michiana is a developing nonprofit working to address a critical gap in our community: what happens to companion animals when their owners face a crisis.
In situations like hospitalization, treatment, domestic violence, or housing instability, people are often forced to make an impossible choice: get help or ensure the safety of the pets they love.
Safe Paws is being designed to provide safe, temporary housing for companion animals during these times - preserving the human–animal bond while individuals access the care they need.
Steps for Safe Paws is more than a walk - it’s a way to be part of building something our community doesn’t yet have.
Your support helps expand the limited short-term crisis resources currently available, working toward longer-term, stable options for companion animals across a broader range of life circumstances. Because no one should have to choose between getting help and keeping the companion animals they love.
